Altadena Asphalt Paving was founded in 2017 by a crew that had been working in the asphalt trade across the San Gabriel Valley for years and saw an opportunity to do things better. Altadena and its neighboring foothill communities have real paving challenges - clay soils that move seasonally, intense year-round sun that oxidizes asphalt fast, and older homes on larger lots where driveways and parking areas get heavy daily use. Most of the contractors working in the area were treating every job the same way, regardless of what the local conditions actually called for.
Starting local and staying local was a deliberate choice. We built the business around Altadena first, learning the neighborhoods, the soil conditions, and the kind of work that holds up here. That focus has expanded to 12 communities across the San Gabriel Valley, but the approach is the same: come out in person, look at what is actually in front of you, give an honest assessment, and back the work in writing. We have served homeowners near Christmas Tree Lane and up in the foothills above Eaton Canyon, commercial properties along the main corridors, and everything in between.

We do not quote jobs over the phone without seeing the surface. Every estimate starts with an in-person visit, and every quote is in writing so you know exactly what is planned before any work begins. If your surface does not need a service, we tell you that.
The most important part of any asphalt or sealcoating job is the prep work before the material ever goes down. We clean the surface, fill cracks, and address drainage before applying anything. Skipping that step is how poor-quality jobs fail within a season.
Scheduling a contractor and having them disappear or reschedule without warning is a common frustration in this trade. We respond within 1 business day and stick to the schedule we commit to. Your time matters.
California requires all paving and sealcoating contractors to hold a state license issued by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). We are fully licensed for all work we perform. You can verify our license status at cslb.ca.gov before signing anything.
Every job we perform is covered by general liability insurance. If something unexpected happens on your property during the work, you are protected. We provide proof of insurance before any project begins - just ask.
We have been based in Altadena and serving the San Gabriel Valley since 2017. That means we know the local soil conditions, the UV exposure, and the permit process through LA County - not a generic one-size-fits-all approach.
